Training Community Members
Mrs. Leak Sopheara is a member of the Commune Council for Women and Children (CCWC) in Tropeang Pring Village, Ang Prasrae Commune. She is 35 years old. After she completed training under KPY’s ToT (Training of Trainer) program for Financial Literacy, she gained more knowledge and better understanding that she wanted to share with others in her community.
She said: “I think knowing basic skills on how to manage the family income and expenses is helpful because it helps individual families to feel confidence in managing, saving and spending family money with a clear plan and with more transparency.
“Learning from the ToT course, I have been able to facilitate the financial literacy training for my community people. I am always happy to share my knowledge to other parents in my commune. I also help monitoring and encouraging the trained parents to commit to put into practice their new skill after they go back home.
“I believe that KPY will continue their support providing more ToT to youths, CCWCs, and other volunteers on financial literacy at the Commune level. It is an opportunity for community members to learn from the project for their own family benefit. Through my home visit for monitoring, I’ve personally noticed the changes of mindset of most parents in my community because now they are more interested in saving and careful spending and planning their family incomes”.
